Introduction

The JKKN Arts Incentive is a branding of few forms of existing assistance and services provided by JKKN to cultural arts Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and cultural arts activists to increase their capacity to organize programmes and activities related to cultural arts.

The JKKN offers five (5) incentives to NGOs and arts activists in developing and expanding cultural arts. The following are the incentives offered; 

  • Financial Arts Incentive
  • Space Arts Incentive
  • Expertise Arts Incentive
  • Promotion Arts Incentive

Objectives

  • To promote development of cultural arts local content and products;
  • To promote creation of compositions and arts product which are low in cost but high in impact;
  • To develop talents and increase skills in cultural arts field;
  • To make the JKKN complex as one-stop center for cultural arts programmes and activities; 
  • To empower NGOs and arts activists through advisory services and coaching;
  • To assist in the exposure to cultural art programmes and activities organized by NGOs and arts activists; and 
  • To increase understanding and appreciation of the public about arts and culture.

  • Financial assistance in the form of seed money to absorb part of the art and cultural programmes and activities costs.
  • Maximum limit for assistance provided is MYR15,000.00 only.
  • Cultural arts NGOs must be registered with the Registrar of Societies Malaysia (ROS) in accordance with the Registration of Societies Act 1966.
  • Non -profit arts -related foundations registered with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) can be considered for application by attaching additional documents. (Document stating that the Foundation is not for profit) All applicants are required to register as a JKKN arts and culture NGO on the Rumah Seni JKKN website at (https://rumahsenijkkn.my/)

  • Applicant status is still ACTIVE at the date of application and programme;
  • Consideration is only to programme implemented between March 2023 to October 31, 2023 only
  • The followings are the scope of programmes and activities to be considered for the assistance;

    7.2 Capacity Development and Knowledge Conference
    7.3 Cultural Arts Research and Development
    7.4 Arts Human Capital Development
    7.5 Outreach Programme 
    7.6 Cultural Arts Dissemination Programme
  • Priority for consideration is for cultural arts programmes/ activities that are based on or elevate Malaysian arts, culture and heritage..
  • The areas of traditional art and culture considered are as follows;

    9.1 Custom and Culture
    9.2 Theatre
    9.3 Traditional Music
    9.4 Malaysia Dance
    9.5 Traditional Poem
    9.6 Permainan Traditional Games
    9.7 Traditional Martial Arts

  • The space arts incentive is the consent to use the space at the JKKN Complex by arts activists and cultural arts NGOs to organize cultural arts programmes and activities collaboratively.
  • Forms of programmes and activities which can be organized are;
    2.1 cultural arts related competition and performance;
    2.2 cultural arts related knowledge programme;
    2.3 cultural arts workshop; and
    2.4 gatherings and meetings of cultural arts NGOs.

  • The incentive is in the form of advisory services, coaching and guidance by JKKN officers and cultural artists who are skilled and experienced in the cultural arts field for arts activists and cultural arts NGOs.

  • How to Apply:

    3.1 Applicant has to send official letter to JKKN Director General or State JKKN Director to obtain advisory and expertise services from officers or JKKN cultural
         artists. Title of letter, APPLICATION FOR ADVISORY AND EXPERTISE SERVICES (NAME OF PROGRAMME/ITEM) THROUGH THE ARTS
         INCENTIVE-EXPERTISE


    3.2 Applicant can also obtain advisory and expertise services from officers or JKKN cultural artists directly by contacting them.

    3.3 The officers or JKKN cultural artists whom have been contacted directly by the applicant shall inform the Director General or the State/Division JKKN Director
           regarding the advisory services rendered and will be rendered.
  • The incentive will be rendered in the form of assistance in exposure and promoting of products and programmes by cultural arts activists, NGOs and arts companies through JKKN digital medium and social media.
  • JKKN Corporate Communication Officer also provides advisory services and guidance in ways and methods to promote programmes/activities, ways to organize media conferences and interviews on TV and Radio.
  •  How to apply:
    3.1 Applicant has to send official letter to JKKN Director General or State JKKN Director. Title of letter,
          APPLICATION FOR ASSISTANCE IN PROMOTING (NAME OF PROGRAMME/ACTIVITY) THROUGH JKKN INCENTIVE-ARTS PROMOTION.

    3.2 Applicant needs to attach the project paper of the program and a softcopy of promotional materials such as programme poster.

    3.3 State JKKN Director or Division Director at the headquarters will make comments, recommendations and support for all promotional incentive applications.

    3.4 Promotional materials approved by JKKN State Director will be broadcasted at JKKN's website and social media until the program ends.
