Background

The National Department for Culture and Arts of Terengganu (Terengganu JKKN) is one of the branches of National Department for Culture and Arts (JKKN) as in other states. Before becoming a department in 2004, JKKN is a division under the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage which was known as Cultural and Arts Division. At the time, state branches were known as State Culture and Arts Office. For its branch in Terengganu, it was known as Terengganu State Culture and Arts Office.

Terengganu JKKN has its own unique building which is called Terengganu National Cultural Park Complex. The building is built on a land area of four

Terengganu Cultural Park Building is not only located close to the beach but it is surrounded by lagoons and adjacent to several state and private building complexes such as Sports Complex building, Equestrian, Floating Mosque and a 4-star hotel.

The Terengganu National Cultural Park Complex which is designed based on Terengganu Malay ethnic traditional architectural features commenced building in 2000 and completed fully and occupied in 2002. It accommodates the administrative office and operations of Terengganu JKKN that has sixteen (16) officer’s posts that is led by state culture and arts director.

Other than administrative and operations office that occupies the administrative block, the Terengganu National Cultural Park Complex also has a proscenium typed auditorium that can accommodate four hundred twenty two (422) audiences. Other than that, another block is the practice building that accommodates dance, music and acting studio.
