24 & 25 Mei 2024 – TARIAN DAN MUZIK MELAYU: “RONGGENG MELAYU”

“Ronggeng Melayu” adalah wadah budaya orang Melayu yang membawa erti lebih besar daripada sekadar menari atau perlakuan kesenian. Fungsinya terhadap masyarakat sebagai memenuhi kehendak manusia untuk bersosial. Di dalam ronggeng, seni tarian itu menjadi medium pergaulan kepada kelompok sosial dan penglibatan secara menyeluruh tanpa membezakan darjat ataupun kasta, bersatu menari bersama dalam rentak yang berubah-ubah.

Tidak kira dalam bentuk permainan bersahaja mahupun persembahan pentas, ia melambangkan budi pekerti orang Melayu yang tinggi nilai peradaban, mengandungi bahasa yang tersurat dan tersirat didalamnya, kaya dengan falsafah serta pemikiran intelektual. Garapan muzik pula menunjukkan kearifan tempatan dengan gabungan pelbagai elemen sehingga gubahan melodi, rentak, tekstur dan penyampaiannya menjadi lambang kesenian orang Melayu serumpun.

 

May 24 & 25, 2024 – MALAY DANCE AND MUSIC: “RONGGENG MELAYU”

The "Ronggeng Melayu" is a Malay cultural vessel that carries a deeper meaning beyond just dance or artistic performance. Its function within society is to fulfil the human need for interaction within society. In ronggeng, the art of dance becomes a medium for social interaction across social groups and inclusive participation without discriminating against status or caste, united in dancing together to ever-changing rhythms.

Whether in the form of simple play or stage performance, it symbolizes the high values of Malay civilization, containing overt and implied language within it, rich with philosophy and intellectual thought. The musical composition demonstrates local wisdom through the combination of various elements, so that the melody, rhythm, texture and delivery become emblems of the Malay ancestral arts.

The essence of "Ronggeng Melayu" transcends mere entertainment - it embodies the spirit of community bonding, cutting across societal divides. Through the rhythmic movements and melodies, it weaves a tapestry celebrating the diversity within Malay culture itself. More than just an art form, it stands as a poetic expression of the Malay identity and way of life.
