Introduction

The Culture Based Tourism Program is JKKN's core programme at the state level which carries the uniqueness of local cultural arts for the purpose of preserving and maintaining the nation's cultural arts heritage, while generating the economy through art and culture, and fostering collaborative spirits, increasing tolerance, harmony and unity towards the prosperity of Malaysians.

PRESERVATION OF CULTURAL ARTS

The Culture Based Tourism Programme is a platform to preserve local cultural arts for the viewing of new generation as well as tourist attractions such as hadrah, jikey, mek mulung, dikir barat, wayang kulit, people's sports, and others.

INVOLVEMENT OF THE YOUNG GENERATION

Aimed to encourage the development and process of scouting new talents in the cultural arts field such as Dikir Barat, Mak Yong, dance, Silat Drumming, Boriah performance and others.

The main state programmes and anchor programmes were developed to promote domestic and international tourism favouring an authentic experience 

NATION'S PROSPERITY FOCUS

The government agencies and private sector services such as mobile farmer's market, health screening, establishment of homestays, advisory services related to business loans, summons payment counters and others.

The involvement of various agencies in providing services to the society such as the Ministry of Health Malaysia, Ministry of Finance, RMP, MAF, Tourism Malaysia, Federal Agriculture Marketing Authority, Tenaga Nasional Berhad, People's Trust Council and others.

Iftar@KL is a breaking fast activity carried out to promote and harmonise the month of Ramadhan as a month of worship for Muslims. It promotes the art, culture and heritage as well as Islamic tourism activities to the public, targeted for local and international tourists, through various programmes.


32023 KELANTANESE ARTS FESTIVAL 21 - 23 September 2023 Pantai Geting, Tumpat, Kelantan
The Kelate Folk Art Festival is a programme that highlights the uniqueness of art, culture and traditional heritage of the east coast community, especially in Kelantan. The unique aspects of this festival will be shared through a variety of cultural heritage and community tourism activities in Kelantan through programme.
4KOTA SELATAN FESTIVAL 2023



21 - 24 September 2023Johor

Festival Kota Selatan combines the arts, culture and heritage of three states in the southern zone of Malaysia namely Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor. This programme is a reflection of the integrity of the traditional art and culture of the states – a key attraction for local and international tourists. The program will display a combination of elements of art, culture and heritage that showcase the identity of the respective states. 

5PERAK CULTURAL FESTIVAL

Perak

Temasya Budaya Negeri Perak or the Perak Cultural Festival highlights the beauty of art, culture, heritage and tourism found in the state of Perak arising from ethnic diversity. It is a compilation of various aspects covering culture, ethnicity, religion, and local traditional practices, which leads to cultural unity. The Perak State Cultural Festival brings local and international tourists together through a variety of arts and cultural heritage and tourism.


6MALAYSIAN TRADISIONAL GAMES FESTIVAL
15 & 16 October 2023
Dataran Merdeka,Kuala Lumpur 
The Malaysian Games Festival is a programme that aims to bring back traditional games that are increasingly marginalized for all Malaysians as well as being introduced and enjoyed by foreign tourists. This will safeguard a key national art heritage for the younger generation through the promotion of a variety of traditional and modern games popular with the various ethnicities of Malaysia.
7MALAYSIA INDIGENOUS ARTS FESTIVAL
18 - 20 August  2023
Teluk Cempedak, Kuantan Pahang
This programme highlights the unique aspects of various ethnicities, heritage, languages, beliefs and practices of native people from various countries around the world. The International Indigenous Arts Festival is seen to be one of the key tourist attractions with an impact on the national tourism industry through highlighting the art and culture of the Orang Asal of Indigenous People in the local and international community.
8LIVING ARTS CULTURAL FESTIVAL
20-22 October 2023
LaLaport Bukit Bintang City Centre, Kuala Lumpur
Feel the pulse of the diversity of local and international arts in the Living Arts Culture Festival @ Living Arts Culture Festival (LACF). The only festival that brings together intangible heritage that has been recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), National Heritage, and arts that requires enhanced awareness to the public.
10RHYTHMS OF KINABALU (ROK)

Lintasan Deasoka, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah
Rhythms Of Kinabalu is a programme to promote and preserve traditional arts, especially in the state of Sabah. This program is held to bring the community, especially that of Sabah, closer to arts and culture activities, as well as giving the platform and opportunities to artists in Sabah to showcase local songs and ethnic songs with the concept of World Music.
11SARAWAK DRUMS FESTIVAL3-5 November 2023Waterfront, Kuching SarawakThis programme promotes and preserves cultural art while displaying the uniqueness of Sarawak Malay Drums. Art and cultural activities expressed through this festival are a key tourist attraction. The Sarawak Drum Festival highlights interesting and unique cultural arts through the main event and various supporting activities.
